Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Houston's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, part of the Mayor's Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, "trains ordinary citizens in how to help themselves and their neighbors in the event of disasters.  In addition, because of the training that CERT volunteers undergo, they are often called upon to assist in organizing disaster response as well." (from the Houston CERT Program web site)

For more information about the CERT program, you can view the presentation that was given at the March 2012 General Meeting, visit the Houston CERT Program web site and/or the CERT Willow Meadows Facebook page, or contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Security Fund

Money donated to the Security Fund goes toward adding more patrol hours with associated costs to the baseline number funded from the WMCC Assessment (Dues).

The 2014 Budget funds only 60 hours per week for the Security Patrol.  Thanks to donations on average of $25,000 per year over the last few years, we have consistently staffed at much higher coverage levels than the dues provide.  In order to achieve the hoped-for 76 hours per week this year, we will again need at least $25,000 in donations or we will have to reduce the planned patrol hours to reflect this donation shortfall.  Conversely, if donations increase, we can provide even more patrol hours.

HPD Wants You to be Purse Aware

HPD, in partnership with the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance (GHLPA) and Crime Stoppers of Houston, want you to be purse aware and guard against purse theft.

Area retailers report higher incidents of purse thefts during the summer months. The GHLPA has teamed up with HPD to bring awareness of this crime and teach citizens how to not become a victim.
